WILLIAM WILLIAMS KEEN -Poetry

Updated: Mar 20

William, you are a hero unsung,

Yet kids chase after men with balls.

But your name should be on the lips of the young.

Your image plastered on their walls.

William, serving in your 80th year,

A time when most men need to rest.

But, serving our finest with your medical gear,

Saving the lives of our military's best.

William, why should we all know your name,

From your hundreds of publications?

But those are just a piece of your acclaim,

Pioneering skills that shaped nations.

William, you were the first in the surgical field.

-Like removing a tumor from a brain.

But your success continued to wield,

The first to cranial fluid drain.

William, how did you feel,

When you massaged the open heart?

But you continued to find ways to heal.

Your methods a medical art.

William, what would the medical field have done,

Without your first colostomy performed?

But your achievements had only begun.

The medical field transformed.

William, the first to suture a damaged nerve,

And the jaw of President Cleveland you saved.

But people keep your name on reserve.

As your place in history has been shaved.

William, you've done way more than addressed.

Your achievements shaped our lives.

But our medical advancements you blessed.

Let's honor your life-changing strives.
