VISITING OR -Poetry by guest author Rp Verlaine

Updated: Oct 19, 2023

It is

the truncated

lifespan of a cicadas

dying song before

winter's

faint pulse

quickens forward.

All I know

is her silver dress falls

to meet her high heels

on a flawlessly waxed floor.

Soon the bed springs

sing as if possessed

to set me straight

back on the crooked path.

Hell grants misdoers.

Until she's gone.

And I have a drink,

then several more.
