There just isn’t
and has never been
a path so straight
where there aren’t curves
that don’t bend
like taking trails
made of hills.
The voyager ascends
toward the moon
to stand on the precipice
to make the jump
like a great leap, into
a vastness of unknown-
the terrain is the way
she writes them.
Lovely and curved,
transcending time
and space; her mind
then goes inward, deeply
cave-like, zones of maddening
depths without skies. The
writer exits the cave into
the vastness of seas,
an aqua marine of coral reefs,
and she leaves the ocean
to step onto splinters
of forests, and skies,
coniferous trees. She is
there to tend the garden
and she thinks today
there is not a madness
as rich as the depths
of the writer but the
vastness of earth, space,
time –
the cosmos!
She does not stop
there where the spider
is lurking and she thinks
like the cicada
stuck in its web;
she would have written
him differently where talons
of a great bird would have
carried him to transcend
above and beyond,
into fate, not made
of hopelessness, but taking
liberty to fly
if only for a moment
like the writer
who exists
knowing no boundaries,
no limitations.
