INGRATITUDE -Poetry

Prosperity abounds in us,

Even found among the poor.

Our generation has much more,

Then our ancestors before.

Our heaters burn night and day,

And the air conditioner is always blowing.

We control our thermostats perfectly,

While our lights are always glowing.

Our cupboards and refrigerators,

Hold our favorite treats.

We didn’t have to grow or can

Our supply of fruits and meats.

Technology is at our fingertips,

Information on a whim.

We can be whoever we want,

No longer expected to be proper and trim.

We have so much and are so blessed,

Yet, we can hardly see,

The abundance that today offers us

And yet, we are as empty as can be.
