FOR THE YOUTH EVERYWHERE -Writing

For the youth everywhere who have lost their way

Continually: their shrines and their check-ins and their self-gratification, posting their image daily to an unknown audience, extinguishing their self to an ideal impossible to keep.

For the youth everywhere, struggling to love themselves.

Stolen years and numbed dreams, potential lost to the cyber world. Always striving to reach the unobtainable persona. Tweaking, tweeting, twerking, transcending, transforming, and transpiring, yet only tainting their soul.

For the youth everywhere who have lost the ability to socialize. Communicating by texts and posts, responding in memes and emojis. Gone is the socials, gone is the sphere to deal with conflict and joy. All interactions moving along the cyber world. They do not know how to maintain eye contact, or how to participate in meaningful conversation. Lost in their ability to connect.

For the youth everywhere, yours is a hard lot. Exposure to technology is what you know. Connecting to friends is a struggle outside of screens. Time spent together feels foreign. How do we include you in the village, how do we reclaim the soul? You are important. You have value. You have a place. How can we change this destructive black hole of youth?

To the youth everywhere, I am sorry we wronged you.
